Hefner Scholars

Our Hefner Scholars are honorees of the Robert & MeiLi Hefner Foundation’s "Hefner Initiative - USA/ China/ Asia" program.

Georgia Newman, Hefner Scholar
The Webb Schools, 2017
Georgia is a member of the 2018 graduating class of the Vivian Webb School. She is a member of the Webb dance program and has been studying ballet for 13 years. She is also practices Karate and has attained a black belt. She is a member of the Honor Cabinet, the Chinese Club, the Indian Club, the Service Club, and the STEM Club.

Anthony Villalobos, Hefner Scholar
The Webb Schools, 2017
Anthony is a member of the 2018 graduating class of the Webb School of California. He tutors fellow students in Algebra II, Pre=Calculus, and Chemistry and is a Student Ambassador and Peer Advisor. He received the Claremont Club’s Rotary Award and the Coaches Award for the Junior Varsity Swim team, and is a member of Webb’s FTC Robotics team.




Shania Do, Hefner Scholar
Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics, 2017
Shania is a member of the 2018 graduating class of OSSM. She has received Scholastic Achievement Awards for AP World History, Pre-AP Spanish II, and Pre-AP English II, as well as a Project Lead the Way Engineering Certificate of Excellence. She participated in 2014 and 2016 summer youth volunteer programs at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center and has also volunteered in the Pioneer Library System and at the Moore Regional Food Bank.

Chinwe Okere, Hefner Scholar
Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics, 2017
Chinwe is a member of the 2018 graduating class of OSSM. She is a member of the National Honor Society, the Student Council and the DSA Honor Roll. She has been a volunteer in the Oklahoma City Metropolitan Library System since 2010 and participated in the 2016 Spark Summer Pre-Medical Program at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine.




Ju Yang, Hefner Scholar
Beijing High School No. 4, 2017
Yang is a member of the graduating class of 2018 of BHSF. She is a member of the Beijing Teenager Science and Technology Club, the Vice President of the Environment Club, and the President of the Charity Club. She won Second Place in the National Final of the National Junior Competition on Water Science and Technology and First Prize in the National Youth Electronic Information Contest.

Liu Yun Zhi, Hefner Scholar
Beijing High School No. 4, 2017
Yun Zhi is a member of the graduating class of 2018 of BHSF. She is the President and Co-Founder of the A Cappella Group, the Monitor of the Flag Raising Class and has hosted and planned programs for many visiting foreign students. She is also very interested in Japanese culture, and has been studying the Japanese language for four years.

Xin Yu, Hefner Scholar
Beijing High School No. 4, 2017
Yu is a member of the graduating class of 2018 of BHSF. His favorite subjects are Physics and Chemistry, and he is also studying AP Calculus and Linear Algebra. Yu is also interested in computer science and has studied web design and programming. He is currently the leader of the BHSFIC Robotics Club.


Zhang Jia Qi, Hefner Scholar
Beijing High School No. 4, 2017
Jia Qi is a member of the graduating class of 2018 of BHSF. He is very interested in sports, and is a member of the BHSF Basketball team and the founder of the American Football Club. He is also the founder and Vice President of the English Translation Club and a member of the Chemistry Club.  In his free time, Jia Qi enjoys playing piano and guitar.
