Zachary Arani, Hefner Scholar
Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics, 2016
Zach is a student of the 2017 graduating class at OSSM. He is an honoree of the Ardent Enthusiast of World History and Culture award, and is a member of the National Honor Society. Zach is also an AP Scholar of East Asian History and World History. Zach has volunteered his services at the Metropolitan Library System and on the Teen Advisory Board, where he created and ran programs for his peers.
Ritvik Ganguly, Hefner Scholar

Ritvik is a student of the OSSM graduating class of 2017. He has held leadership roles in Key Club, Union Table Tennis, and his Youth Philanthropy Initiative. Ritvik is a member of Mu Alpha Theta-competing state-wide in math, a member of the University of Tulsa Physics Club, and is a medalist of the Science Olympiad. He enjoys playing the violin, piano and golf.

Kaitlin Hawkes, Hefner Scholar
The Webb Schools, 2016
Kaitlin is a student of the graduating class of 2017 at The Webb Schools. She is a Varsity Tennis captain, a student ambassador of the Vivian Webb School, and student-body president of Western Christian School. In 2015, Kaitlin worked as an intern of the City of Upland Planning Department. She has ambitions to pursue studying Urban Development and Civil Affairs.
Raphael Huang, Hefner Scholar

Raphael is a student of Webb Schools graduating class of 2017. He is the Cross Country, Varsity Team Captain, and a member of his school's Tennis Team. Raphael has volunteered in his community through the Youth Summer Mission Project, and at the San Antonio Regional Hospital. Raphael is a Royal Conservatory pianist and enjoys swimming the Richmond Rapids.

Creede High School, 2016
Eileen is a student of the 2017 graduating class from Creede High School in Colorado. She is the president of her school's Student Council, a Peer mediator and mentor, a National Honor Society member, and president of the Student's Against Destructive Decisions. Eileen is the captain of her school's Varsity Volleyball team, a Scholastic Silver Key Awardee and a National Congressional Art Awardee.

Blair Amberly, Hefner Ambassador, 2016
Blair is a 2nd and 3rd Grade Teacher at the Free Union Country School in Virginia. With creative, hands-on lessons, he engages his students with real-world applications aimed to facilitate each student's academic success. Blair is a member of the school committee, and as Co-Chairman planned and created school-wide strategies. Blair holds a Master's in Education and has a love of music, reading and exercise.
Mark Li, Hefner Ambassador, 2016
Mark is a Professor of Biology at the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics in Oklahoma City. He has been awarded with the OSSM Foundation Faculty Award and Research Excellence Awards. Mark has also received the Travel Award from OSSM for his leadership in chaperoning students on a six-country international workshop. Mark holds a Ph.D. in Science and enjoys playing competitive Tennis.

Fu Yixian, Hefner Scholar
Beijing High School No 4, 2016
Yixian is a student of the graduating class of 2017 from Beijing High School No 4. She is the leader of her class's English Drama Club, a Merit Student of the Chaoyang District and a member of her Student Counsel. Yixian enjoys dance, playing piano, Biology, Biochemistry, and The Arts. Yixian is a member of the Sound of Phoenix Choir and awarded First Prize for her group at the 60th International Music Festival in Belgium.
Haoxuan Li, Hefner Scholar

Li Haoxuan is a student of Beijing High School No 4's graduating class of 2017. Haoxuan was elected as Commissary of General Affairs of his class. He has also been assigned as the Minister of Academy and Life Affairs Department of his school's Student Union. In 2015, Haoxuan was nominated for the position of Vice-President of his school's MUN club, learning about the importance of international relationships and delegations of a president or member of a state.
Li Zhoujie, Hefner Scholar

Zhoujie is a student of the high school graduating class of 2017 at Beijing High School No 4. Her primary focus of study is mathematics and she is also a pupil of dance. Zhoujie also enjoys learning calligraphy and playing soccer. She was awarded First Prize in mathematical modeling in the 2015 Beijing Applied Mathematics competition, increasing her school and class rankings from 150 to 29. Zhoujie enjoys volunteering in her hometown of Beijing.

Liu Shukai is a student at Beijing High School No 4 and of the graduating class of 2017. Shukai's primary studies include: Physics and Calculus, also volunteering his time to the Beijing Tourism Department for his services as a tour guide, and speaks Chinese, English, and Spanish. In 2015, he was awarded Second Prize by solving Olympiad problems of Algebra, Geometry, and Number Theory.

Albemarle County, Va 2015
Sophia is a student of the 2016 graduating class at Western Albemarle High School. She is a member of her school's Leadership Class and volunteers at her local medical center in assisting patients and employees at the Cancer Center and MERCI center. She is a member of the Spanish Society, Engish Society, Math Honors Society and History Honors Society.  Sophia enjoys playing many musical instruments and is active in her school's Swim and Dive Teams.

Monique Baxter, Hefner Ambassador
Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics, 2015
Monique Baxter is a professor of East Asian studies at OSSM, featuring her lessons on China, the Middle Kingdom, and on the developing regions of Japan and Korea. Monique graduated from the University of Texas - Pan America where she earned her B.S. and later her M.A. in History. She received the 2014 Honored Teacher Award for Oklahoma Academic All-State.
Heather Corpora, Hefner Ambassador 2015
Heather Corpora is a School Counselor at William Monroe Middle School in Greene County, Virginia. She has been a school counselor the past nine years, working primarily with high school and middle school students. Previously, Heather was the Assistant Varsity Volleyball Coach for Nelson County High School, and now participates in the Charlottesville Recreation Volleyball Program. Her personal interests include traveling and spending time in nature.

Pedro Lozano De Aos, Hefner Scholar
Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics, 2015
Pedro is a graduate of the class of 2016 at OSSM. He is a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, Sister BJ's Pantry and The Perry Initiative, and is a member of Mu Alpha Theta, and of the Robotics Engineering team for the FIRST Tech Challenge. Pedro was honored with second place standing at the Oklahoma State Science and Engineering Fair and state first place winner. In his free time, Pedro enjoys playing soccer, swimming, and sailing.

Emily is a student of the 2016 graduating class at OSSM. She is Choir President at her school and a Student Council representative at OSSM. Emily is a member of Students Against Destructive Decisions, the Book Club, and of the Fellowship of Christian Students. Emily has served on her school's basketball team as manager, and participates in OSSM's Rowing Team. Emily plans to continue her education in Microbiology or Physics upon graduating from OSSM.

The Webb Schools, 2015
Cori is a member of the Honor Cabinet, Chapel Council, and is a Student Ambassador at Vivian Webb School. She was Freshman Class President as part of her school's Associated Student Body and Honor Symposium Leader participating in workshops and class events. Cori is a Roger Scholar and honored in academics at the Lleulla Morey Murphey Foundation. Cori is a flutist performing with the CAIS Honors Orchestra.
Francisco Munoz, Hefner Scholar

Francisco is a Headmaster's Distinguished Scholar of the graduating class of 2016 at Webb. He participates in athletic activities at Webb such as Cross Country, Water Polo and the Swim Team. Francisco is also a member of the Debate Team in which he placed third at the Claremont McKenna League Tournament in 2012. Francisco volunteers at his local Medical Center and serves as a tutor at Webb Schools.

Liu Yuang, Hefner Scholar
Beijing High School No 4, 2015
Liu Yuang is a member of the Honor Council and the Class Committee at Beijing High School No 4. He enjoys participating in charitable programs and is a Beijing Youth Volunteer. He won seventh place in the Beijing Fencing Competition, is a Champion of the Long Jump as well as earned second place in the 400-meter race representing his school. Yuang has written, directed, and performed in two English dramas, earning his school a Top Drama Prize.
Ni Cheng, Hefner Scholar

Ni Cheng is an honorary student at Beijing High School 4. Her fields of excellence include French Language, leadership in her community, and Track and Field. She was selected to the finals of China Composition Competition and chosen as a delegate for Global Leader Model in 2014. She is a member of “Future Talent Project” in 2013 and has volunteered at Beijing High School’s Library Services over the past two years.
Zou Yumeng, Hefner Scholar

Zou Yumeng is a student of the graduating class of 2015 from Beijing High School 4. She enjoys writing novels and articles for her own start-up magazines in Beijing, China called “The 66th Block”. Yumeng's primary interests outside of reading and writing are: History, Economy, and Philosophy. Her favorite sports are Basketball and long-distance running. She hopes to travel more and learn of the varieties of culture around the world.

An Mufei is a member of her school's art club, calligraphy club, and volunteers at the Beijing Science and Technology Museum. Mufei enjoys playing guitar, painting, swimming and learning about computer software skills. She is also a member of the Shang Academy of Classical Learning since 2012, and participates in her school's Confucius Theory Study Group.

Katie is a student of the 2015 graduating class at OSSM. She enjoys playing in the School Marching Band and is a member of the National Beta Club, World Cultures Club, Youth in Government, and Book Club. She participates in the University of Arkansas Global Campus Music Camp and serves her community through the Saville Center for Child Advocacy in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Samantha is a student of the graduating class of 2015 at OSSM. She is an Honor Roll student, a member of the National Honor Society and was a Spelling Bee runner-up in 2011. She was awarded the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration Award for her science project in 2011 and recognized by Representative Anastasia Pittman of Oklahoma for her acheivements. Samantha is an active member of the College Readiness Leadership Program.

Kurt Bachmann, Hefner Ambassador

Dr. Bachmann is a member of the OSSM faculty teaching Physics for over 14 years with the school. Prior to joining OSSM, Dr. Bachmann held postdoctoral positions in solar astronomy at the High Altitude Observatory in Colorado and the National Solar Observatory in Arizona. He also, taught physics at two liberal arts colleges in Pennsylvania and in Alabama where he held the capacity of Assistant Professor.

Madelyn is a student of the graduating class of 2015 at Webb. She enjoys playing Volleyball, Waterpolo, and Swimming. She is a member of the Debate Team, Prep League Athletic Council, Project Earth, and the Girl Scouts of America. She has been awarded the Rogers Peccary Scholar Award, English Award, and the Tim Quinn Award for Swimming. Madelyn is a student of AP Classes and Honor Classes at The Webb Schools.

Anthony is a student of the graduating class of 2015 at Webb. He is a member of the HSPDP League Championship Debate Team and is a First Year Rogers Scholar. He enjoys playing Baseball and Tabletop Tennis as well as participating in Spanish Club and volunteering with his class's Food Drive Steering Committee. Anthony is a Better Chance Scholar, a winner of the Publications Prize, and the Sophmore History Prize at Webb Schools.

Amelia Zhen, Hefner Scholar

Amelia enjoys swimming, listening to music, watching movies and reading when she is not studying. She has played the flute for eight years and plans to continue to play throughout life. Amelia is a fan American movies and TV series and keeps up with the latest. She keeps busy with group projects and has started up her own tourism business in Beijing, coordinating various sightseeing around the city. She finds great pleasure in interacting with people in her community and helping those in need.

Aaron is a student of the graduating class of 2015. He has lived in Canada and China, an experience he says gave him the international mindset to embrace a more holistic view of the world. He values the great sense of optimism, which Aaron credits learning of the great spirit of optiminsm, from his two loving parents who he says instilled in him the value in being grateful for everything.

April has strong interests in art and music and in her spare time, she paints or plays her piano. She has performed in chorus since elementary school and while attending Beijing High School No 4, she was enrolled in AP courses and ejoyed her humanity classes most of all as well as many extracurricular activities. April loves to travel and she has been to many places with her family.


Mingpu Hu, Hefner Scholar

Mingpu Hu is a student of the graduating class of 2015. He served as the Vice President of the school chorus, performing and representing his school at Carnegie Hall. He recently founded a website which helps students to start up projects, recruit members and raise money. Mingpu intends to study Visual Communication in college, and his design works have received rave reviews from top high-tech companies such as Tencent and Meizu in China.

Andrew is from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and graduated from OSSM in May of 2014 where he focused his studies in East Asian History, Chemistry, Physics, Spanish, and English. Andrew was the President and Founder of the Runner's Club and was a member of Key Club while attending OSSM. Currently, Andrew is an undergraduate at the University of Oklahoma studying Chemical Engineering and pursuing a Pre-Medical degree.
Austin Fehr, Hefner Scholar

Austin is a native to Oklahoma and graduated from OSSM in May, 2014. Austin served as Vice President of the World Language Club and as Secretary of the Chess Club. He was awarded the 2012 English Achievement Award and the Spanish Achievement Award under the same year. Austin was awarded with the 2012 Chemistry Achievement Award and Pre-Calculus and Trigonometry Award. Austin is pursuing a Biochemistry degree at the University of Tulsa in Oklahoma.

Eryn Halvey, Hefner Scholar
The Webb Schools, 2013
Eryn graduated from Webb Schools in May 2014 and intends to study International Relations at Wellesley College in Massachusetts. She has traveled to Ecuador with Extreme Response International in an effort to work with special needs children. Eryn has served as President of the Global Children's Relief Club and is a member of Webb's Christian Club. She enjoys playing Varsity Softball, Varsity Volleyball, and Varsity Basketball.
Kristina Oney, Hefner Scholar

Kristina Oney is a student of the graduating class of 2014 from The Webb Schools. She has been awarded the Roger Peccary Scholar 2013 Award and the Rotary International Youth-Service-Americanism in Action 2012 Award. Kristina has served as Captain of the Debate Team, and was President of the Service Council-H.O.P.E. She enjoys playing tennis, water polo, and Classical Piano. Kristina is an undergraduate student at Wellesley College in Massachusetts.

Phil Burnett, Hefner Scholar

A native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Phil Burnett graduated from the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics in 2013. Phil is pursuing an undergraduate degree from Columbia University in New York. While he is currently interested in physics, psychology, and a few foreign languages, he has yet to decide which field he will pursue.
Alyssa Rudelis, Hefner Scholar

Alyssa was born in Rogers, Arkansas. She is a graduate of the class of 2013 from the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics and is currently studying at Stanford University. She plans to pursue both undergraduate and graduate degrees in physics and learn the Mandarin Language. Alyssa hopes to return to China as part of a study-abroad program with Stanford University.

Roberto is originally from Long Beach, California and a student of the 2013 graduating class at The Webb Schools. He was an active member of the Honor Committee at Webb among other leadership roles and participated in sports like Wrestling and indoor soccer while attending Webb. His focus of study is in Economics and International Relations at Harvard University. In his free time he enjoys reading, listening to music, and running.

Brandon is from Southern California and a student of the class of 2013 at The Webb Schools. Brandon is a member of the Honors Advanced Museum Research of Paleontology, Speech and Debate, Boy Scouts of America, and enjoys Golf. He has volunteered in areas in his community such as Fijian Service Project, American Youth Soccer Organization, and Eagle Scout Rank and is attending the University of California at Berkeley.

Eduardo Lima, Hefner Scholar

Eduardo attended Enid High School before graduating from OSSM in 2012. He won Debater of the year (2010) and JSA 1st Place Affirmative Debater as well. He was a member of the Superintendents Honor Roll and the National Society of High School Scholars that same year. Eduardo is now a full-time student at Princeton University majoring in Philosophy and pursuing certification and fluency in the Mandarin Language.

Ty is from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and graduated from OSSM in 2012. While at OSSM he was a member of the Physics Journal Club, Boy Scouts of America, Tulsa Youth Symphony, Math Club and the Einstein Science Club. Ty is a full-time student at the University of Oklahoma.

Abigail Hess, Hefner Scholar

Abigail is a winner of Webb’s “Unbounded Thinker’s Award” (2010) receiving multiple awards in leadership throughout her years at Webb. In 2009 she won the Commendations Award as part of a Model United Nations program.  Abigail is attending Wellesley College in Massachusetts studying Political Science and Media Arts and Science. She plans to study abroad in Australia at the University of Sydney and hopes to return to Asia next summer.
Timothy McGinley, Hefner Scholar

Tim became the first student at Webb to qualify for and compete in the State Geography Bee. He was awarded the Academic Achievement Award his freshman year at Webb and won the Freshman History Award that same year. Tim is from Ojai, California and currently attending the University of California, Berkeley.
